“Irrespective of what led you to seek counselling, I commend you for taking the first steps towards improving your mental health and wellness.”
Magdalene Acquah
I am a graduate of the Masters of Social Work program at The University of Toronto, a Registered Social Worker and a Psychotherapist. My passion for wanting to become a therapist stemmed from my broad range of personal and professional experiences. I love working with people and understand the importance of mental health for leading a happy, balanced, and healthy life.

Growing up, I experienced separation anxiety, the divorce of my parents, learning challenges, rejection from family and friends, immigration, self-esteem issues, trauma from the loss of loved ones, and poverty. I overcame these challenges with support and growth. Counselling provided a supportive and non-judgmental environment for me to explore the vision that I have for my life. I also developed a deep understanding of myself and the process allowed me to live my life with authenticity and clarity.
My role in your life can be short or long term depending on your needs. I will be an objective listener, facilitator, teacher and coach to guide you in exploring different paths. My philosophy revolves around the notion that people are good, able to change and that relationships are all about repair.
I aim to foster curiosity and resilience in clients to help develop new ways of thinking about life’s difficulties and practice new skills in response to stressors. I employ a variety of approaches in counselling, such as Solution Focused, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Mindfulness to determine the most beneficial therapy for your unique needs after meeting with you.
I am very passionate about what I do and thank you for trusting me as you take the first steps towards your wellness.
